Revamping the Revamped

August 9, 2010
Have you ever revamped something, lived with it a while and decided that you weren’t quite done with it yet?  Allow me to introduce my entry coat rack:
Blah Entry Coat Rach
Last fall, I turned an old window into this great coat rack.  It has definitely helped clean up my entry way clutter.  Functionally, I was loving it.  Aesthetically, it was definitely lacking something.   There just wasn’t enough contrast between my Navajo White walls and the Heirloom White of the frame.

Painting It’s time to paint!  I mixed up a soft blue color using paints I already had.

DSC_0104 It’s already looking better…

Smoke Glaze A little smoky glaze and it’s almost perfect.  I like to brush the glaze on and then wipe it off with an old rag.  I like the softer look it produces.

Paint and Glaze I think the contrast is much better against the wall now!

DSC_0116 Functional, but a lot prettier now!

Are you a repeat revamper like me?

  1. What a cute idea! I really like how you used the old window as a coat hanger! And I love the look of the window. I even made my husband walk over to my computer so I could show it to him :-)

I hold a weekly link party on Friday's and would love to have you join me! You have such cute ideas!!

  6. Love that color, Carolyn! I think that did it ~ it looks great hanging on your wall. I have done that a few times myself over the years. In fact, I have a project I did recently that I'm not real happy with and I'm not sure which way to go with it at this point.
