Decorate My Mantel – Felt Mantel Scarf

November 15, 2010

Felt Mantel ScarfI just made a felt scarf for my Christmas mantel.  I love my cherry wood mantel, but I really wanted a clean, white canvas this year for my mantel decorations.

Peace Felt Mantel ScarfI think it looks sweet with the mitten garland I made last week.

I started with 54” wide white felt and used the full width.  I cut it the depth of my mantel, plus 12” for overhang.

Pinked Trim on Felt Mantel ScarfI used my pinking shears on the edges for a decorative look.

Fabric Mantel Scarf Trim Simple and easy.

Two projects down!  I’m on my way to having a decorated mantel by Thanksgiving weekend!

What’s on your mantel?

I’ll be linking up with:  Freckled Laundry, Between Naps on the Porch, Creative Itch, and Sew and Tell Friday.

  2. Love it - I don't have a mantel, but maybe I will do a table cloth.

  3. That mitten garland is just precious! Thank you so much for the tutorial and linking with air your laundry Friday. Hope to see you again, Carolyn.

  4. wish I had a mantel! yours is festive and bight! well done!

  5. Looks great! Makes me want to decorate my mantel now!

  7. This is so adorable! I love the pinking on the edges, looks fabulous on your mantle!

  8. I absolutely love this. Gingham has been tugging on my heartstrings lately, and I love how it looks in green. I would not have guessed that was made from felt! From far away (or through the computer screen, haha) the word peace looks almost like it's been embroidered. So beautiful, well done. :)

Hello! Thanks for taking the time to leave me a note!
