A few months back I saw some really cute art for a baby’s room. It was basically the song lyrics printed out in pink and blue in a series of cute fonts. I wish I could link to the source, but I can’t for the life of me find the blog. If anyone has seen it, please let me know and I’ll edit this post to include the original inspiration for this project. I decided to create my own version of “Three Little Birds” wall art to hang above the TV in our spare bedroom.
I started with these two framed prints I used to have hanging in my bathroom.
After pulling about a million staples out of the back of these I finally removed the print and matting from both frames. Unfortunately, the print was stuck down tightly to the matting.
So I just mixed up some craft paint and painted right over the print. I didn’t paint all the way into the center of the print because you won’t be able to see it anyway and I’m kind of lazy like that.
I took some coppery craft paint and went around the edges of the matting to hide my messy painted edges. I spray painted the frames Oil Rubbed Bronze. ![]()
I printed out my song using some super cute free fonts from KevinandAmanda.com.
Total cost for my new artwork: free!
Value of a happy song in your heart: priceless!
This post will be linked to some of these very fine blogs.
this is so nice! I LOVE this song. It plays in the background of my digital picture frame. :) Now it will be stuck in my head all day and that's not so bad.
ReplyDeleteWhat I great idea - I should do this our frist dance song and put it in my bedroom!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea, Carolyn! I love doing this to old prints, too, to get some updated decor. I like how the painting you did on the mat and print makes it look even more dimensional.
