We have done a TON of DIY renovations on our home. But up until recently, I was afraid of the power tools. So, I was relegated to doing the finish work: sanding, filling nail holes, etc. A necessary, but boring aspect of home improvement. I finally learned how to use the power miter saw and pneumatic nailer. It is So. Much. Fun. Now, I’m actually looking for projects where I can pull out the nailer.
Check out this crazy lady. Can you see that weird crazed look in her eyes? She’s feeling the power. On a serious note, they might not be attractive, but hearing protection and eye protection are a MUST. Here’s the miter saw. It’s fun too.
Even though I loved being able to use these power tools on my own, I’m even more pleased with the way my trim turned out:
I was reluctant to put crown in this small space, but instead of making it feel smaller, it really opens up the space.
The new trim really looks great against the bead board wallpaper.
So, if you’ve been afraid to use those power tools, give them a try! You’ll like the power and love what you can accomplish!
I’ll be linking up to Design-aholic's VOTW party and Shanty2Chic’s I Made it Without My Hubby party.
Hi Carolyn. It really looks fantastic. I too have been regulated to the tear out dirty work or the helper job or paint and finisher. Can I say it loud enough. SICK OF IT!!! I really should learn how to use power tools without fear. Were the miter cuts hard to figure?
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job - Power Girl!
Have a fun weekend...Tracy :)
I'm with you. I LOVE power tools. Once you've shot one of those nailers, you are addicted. Also love the chop saw, planer, jointer, table saw. They are all great. I love the smell of the wood and the shavings they make. Would you do a tutorial on crown molding? I would love to learn, but don't really get how to measure for the miters. What if your walls aren't 90 degree angles?
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh Carolyn! The picture of you with the nail gun makes me think of that beer commercial where the wife is putting her hubby's corsage on and she winds up using a nail gun. On the tools note ~ I knew how to use basic stuff like a hammer and drill but had to hone some other tool skills once I started my business. I now have my own set that I use for my interior decorating jobs {toolbox and all}!
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job! I love crown molding! I had my hubby put it in my living room several yeas ago, but it stopped there. My next house WILL have beautiful moldings!
You Go Girl, great job. Your bathroom really looks amazing.

ReplyDeleteThe effort was worth it, a really beautiful bathroom. I love the wallpaper.
ReplyDeleteI'm so impressed! I typically leave the power tools to my husband, but I've been trying to take an interest and learn while I'm watching. You did a great job on this.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had some of that in me!!!!! It looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI've always had a thing for power tools. They are just so friggin' awesome.
