Isn’t she cute? I feel just like Lucy Ricardo. Except I’m not wearing full makeup, a pretty dress, a cinched-in waist and high heels to cook and clean in. All the fabulous 50’s TV housewives had a collection of beautiful aprons. Why can’t I?
I found this pattern on a great blog called Sharon Sews. Now this gal really sews up a storm. She posted a vintage apron pattern she found on the back of an old seam binding package. I changed it up a bit, and I love how it turned out.
Do you think if I make my hubby one, he’ll make dinner just like Ricky?

Case in point: one ordinary houseplant in a cheap plastic pot. There’s really nothing inherently wrong with this pot, but its cheap white plastic finish just gets lost among all of my light colored woodwork and trim. Sorta ugly, definitely not the look I’m going for.
Enter a can of Rust-oleum spray paint in satin espresso. Tall, dark and handsome. Just my type. This particular type of paint is made for wood, metal, wicker, plastic, you name it. A couple of fast coats, and look what it does to an ordinary white plastic pot. Voila…instant depth and drama. At least until I find just the pot I’m looking for. I’m fickle that way.
